50,000 ‘Walk Out’ Figure From A & E’s Shocking

It is alarming to hear that 50,000 people walked out of A and E units around the country last year because of the long waiting times. If those people had actually stayed, it would have made the already disastrous figures for those waiting at our A and E departments much worse. I sincerely hope that no fatalities happened as a result of people not being able to access treatment. It just shows the dire straits that our health service is in at the moment. It is also not helpful to read media reports of a recruitment embargo in the health service with regard to doctors and nurses. I know that situation has been clarified over the weekend but it is not helpful that front line staff are not being given the resources to do their job properly while far too many administrators in the HSE are walking around with virtually nothing to do.
