The Department of the Environment need to make an immediate announcement about the funding that is being allocated to county councils for the upgrade of Group Water Schemes around the country.
Many Group Water Schemes are in urgent need of upgrade work and county councils around the country have not yet got their allocations from the Deparment and an announcement should be made on this matter immediately by the Minister. There has been huge publicity surrounding the whole water issue in recent weeks but we have heard very little about thie people who depend on Group Water Schemes for their supply. A lot of these schemes are in need of upgrade work and county councils must be given their allocations immediately so that work can be carried out. I am calling on the Department to make an announcement on the matter this week. I will be rasing this situation in the Dail as a matter of urgency this week.
