Knock Airport Development Welcomed But Infrastructure Must Be There to Support It

By November 20, 2017No Comments

I warmly welcome the news that work on the 15 million Euro upgrade of the facilities at Knock Airport is to get underway very soon and I also welcome the news that much of that work will be carried out by local contractors which will create local employment. Over the next three years major work will be carried out on the passenger facilities, the terminal building and the runway which is badly needed. Knock Airport is one of the most important facilities that we have in the West and I will be calling for added investment in the airport in the years to come.
I am also calling on the local county councils to ensure that the proper infrastructure is put in place to support the new facilities in terms of roads and other requirements. We must also ensure that adequate water and sewage facilities and proper broadband coverage is also part of the package. We have to ensure that Knock Airport is supported and developed and all the relevant stakeholders need to be involved.
