Review Process Needed Immediately On FLawed Farm Inspections

The recent High Court ruling deemed that the Department of Agriculture’s inspection procedures were flawed. It would mean that there are now thousands of possible appeals against inspection decisions relating to EU payments. I am calling for an independent review process to deal with all the historical penalties that may have been affected by this High Court ruling, The rules with regard to eligibility have been reinterpreted again this year. Land eligibility concerns have been indicated to the Department over many years and farmers concerns in this regard have been upheld in this recent court judgement and an immediate review process is now required and I am calling on Minister Creed to act on this important matter immediately.
