Roscommon Mental Health Review Must Be Published As Soon As Possible

The long awaited review into mental health services in Roscommon will not now be published until the end of August at the earliest and I am calling on the HSE to ensure that this latest deadline is met so that measures can be put in place to deal with the problems that need to be addressed.
The HSE have issued the following statement and I quote….
The review team submitted the final review document to the National Director for Mental Health services this week. Over the coming weeks she will review the document. She will seek clarification from the review team where this is required and she will then formally accept the review document. It is only after the document is formally accepted on behalf of the HSE by its commissioner that it will be made available to relevant stakeholders. We expect this process to take a number of weeks and therefore the review document should be available to interested parties by the end of August. (Ends)
The publication of this report has been held up for many months and it is absolutely essential that it is published without any further delay. This review was promised as far back as last November and it’s publication has been postponed a number of times. There are serious gaps in the services available to people who require mental health treatment and assessment, and until this report is published we cannot deal with those problems. I am calling on the HSE to publish the review as planned and that there are no more delays.
