It is only a matter of time before the Bus Eireann strike will affect the school transport sector. Bus Eireann office staff are also on strike and as a consequence no invoices are being processed for school bus operators. The 30 rule has been invoked in this case and that is certain to lead to cash flow problems for many operators who may not be in a position to continue the service. This would have serious consequences for many families especially those in rural Ireland.
Once again I am calling on the Government and Minister Ross to facilitate talks between both sides in this dispute and if a mediator, agreed by both sides, is needed then let one be appointed immediately.
